“Spreading festive joy through imaginative and creative artwork”
Haydon Wick Parish Council has teamed up with local school children to spread some much needed community festive fun throughout the Parish.
The Parish Council’s festive creative competition was launched in the October half-term and designed for local school children to come up with a Christmas card to accompany the 160 Christmas parcels that Parish Council distributes each year to its older, and more vulnerable residents, living in the parish.
Councillor Sarah McDermott had this to say about the project: “We were delighted with the amount of entries we had this year, and the imagination and creativity was outstanding. We had a hard time judging the winner – but thoroughly enjoyed the process. We wanted to thank everyone who took part. The winning card design will make a wonderful contribution to our Christmas parcel scheme”.
The Parish Council is delighted to announce the winner this year is Emily, a pupil from Catherine Wyatt Primary School. Emily’s winning design ‘Snow Ball Fight’ will feature on the Christmas card going out with the parcels. The Council wanted to use an independent judge and asked Morrisons Community Champion, Sandra Graver to help with the competition judging.
The artistic superstar was awarded her winning prize during school assembly recently and received personalised cards, a cotton bag and mugs each printed with her creative artwork for Emily and her family to use and enjoy. The runners-up entries can be seen at the local Haydon Wick Morrisons.
