Following several members of public attending our recent Planning & Highways Committee detailing their concerns over the new bus routes in Thursday Street and Friday Street, the Council has agreed to represent them and liaise with Swindon Borough Council and the Swindon Bus Company to try to mitigate against the issues raised.
The concerns raised are:
- The narrow roads, and street side parking causing the roads to be even narrower, not allowing enough space for passing buses
- The lack of engagement or consultation to nearby residents from the Swindon Bus Company
- The foot traffic heading to/from local primary schools; especially in icy weather
- The noise and vibration to local homes
- Disruption to nearby wildlife due to the noise and increased traffic
Confirmation received from Swindon Bus Company that it could take up to 28 working days (and even longer in busy periods) for them to respond to our correspondence.
An update will feature on the next Planning & Highways Committee agenda on the 15th November 2022. If you wish to attend this public meeting it begins at 7pm at the Council Offices, Thames Avenue. The agenda will be circulated a week before and will be displayed on the Council’s noticeboards and website.
If you have any additional comments about the new temporary bus routes; please leave them in the box below and we will ensure they are picked up when consulting with Swindon Bus Company.
