Community Led Action Plan

The Community Led Action Plan sets out actions identified through community consultation and guides the Parish Council’s strategy for the next three years.

Between December 2025 and March 2026, residents shared their views on local priorities, services and future improvements. This invaluable feedback has directly informed the development of the Community‑Led Action Plan 2026–2029, which sets out the priorities and actions that will guide the Parish Council’s work over the next three years.

What Residents Told Us

The consultation showed strong continuity with the previous Community Led Action Plan. Residents continue to value four core themes that underpin parish activity:

  • A Clean and Well-Maintained Place
  • A Kind, Connected and Caring Community
  • A Green and Sustainable Environment
  • A Safe and Friendly Place to Live

Overall satisfaction with parish led services remains positive. However, residents were also clear about areas where they would like to see improvement, clearer communication and more visible action.

Key findings from the consultation include:

  • Most residents are satisfied with the cleanliness and upkeep of the parish, though a significant minority raised concerns about weed control, verge maintenance and the condition of pavements.
  • Feelings of community connection are generally positive, but only a small proportion of residents feel very connected, highlighting opportunities to further strengthen engagement and inclusion.
  • Environmental and sustainability initiatives are important to the majority of respondents, with strong support for wildlife protection, tree planting and the care of green spaces.
  • Perceptions of safety are broadly positive, yet street lighting, visible patrols and CCTV were consistently identified as priority concerns.

What Happens Next

A recurring theme throughout the feedback was the need for improved communication and visibility. Many residents identified priorities that closely align with existing parish activity, suggesting that awareness of current services and investment is not always clear. Residents also expect the Parish Council to continue advocating on their behalf on issues beyond its direct control, particularly with Swindon Borough Council and the police.

In response, the refreshed Community Led Action Plan 2026–2029 will:

  • Retain and strengthen successful initiatives from the previous plan.
  • Target resources at areas of continued concern, especially maintenance, safety and community connection.
  • Improve how progress and impact are communicated to residents.
  • Strengthen partnership working to address wider community issues.

Through this updated Action Plan, Haydon Wick Parish Council reaffirms its commitment to working alongside residents, partners and stakeholders to ensure the parish reflects local priorities and continues to thrive.
