The Parks & Open Spaces Team continues to conduct comprehensive hedge cutting and shrub bed maintenance throughout the parish on a 12 month continuous cycle. Each cycle of the parish takes approximately 17 weeks. In the winter months, November – February, this incorporates project work such as tree crown lifting, removing ivy, hedge reductions, tree planting, etc. Thorough risk assessment is conducted prior to works taking place in the spring/summer months, April – September, to ensure that there are no birds, bees/wasps or young animals nesting. Any areas identified where nesting is present will be deferred to the next cycle and closely monitored by the Parks & Open Spaces Team.

To improve communications with the residents we are publishing live social media update every 2 weeks documenting where the team has been and where the team is working towards, providing estimated time of arrivals in to the next area of the parish. The routes are published as a general guide but will fall slightly out of sync to accommodate other priority tasks.

Reactive works continue daily based on priority and scheduling. All hedge cutting is done in line with the approved specification (Click here)

The 2025 – 2030 Tree Survey is 60% complete on trees owned or leased by the Parish Council  and quotations are being received for Phase 1 (Trees needing maintenance within the next 3-6 months), the remainder of the trees are being assessed to see what can be done in-house or what needs further assistance from Tree Surgeons.
