Haydon Wick Heroes
Haydon Wick Parish runs a civic award scheme annually, which is designed for residents to vote for people that make the parish a lovely place to live and work.
The award is divided into three categories:
- Young achiever
- Volunteer of the year
- Community group of the year
- Long Service Award

Young Achiever of the Year Award
Harry – for his outstanding commitment to his community, demonstrating exceptional maturity, dedication and service beyond his years.
Volunteer of the Year Award
John – for his invaluable contribution to the community, bringing warmth, enthusiasm and generous spirit to every event he supports.
Community Group of the Year Award
A Worthy Hangout – for their dedication to building a welcoming social community for men, bringing people together through sport, friendship and connection.
Long Service Award
Patsy – for five years of dedicated service, bringing warmth, energy and light to the Memory Café and Parish events.

Celebrate Our Local Heroes: Haydon Wick Hero Awards 2026
Do you know someone who makes Haydon Wick a better place to live? A volunteer who goes above and beyond, a young person achieving great things, someone who has dedicated years of service to our community, or a community group that brings people together. Now is your chance to give them the recognition they deserve.
Award Categories:
Young Achiever Celebrating outstanding young people (under 18) who have made exceptional contributions to our community through leadership, innovation, or service to others.
Volunteer of the Year Recognising individuals who selflessly give their time and energy to make Haydon Wick a better place, whether through organising community events, supporting vulnerable residents, or championing local causes.
Long Service Award Honouring individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to serving the Haydon Wick community over many years. This award recognises those who have consistently contributed their time, skills, and passion to making our parish a better place through sustained voluntary service.
Community Group of the Year Honouring groups that have made a significant positive impact on our parish through their collective efforts and dedication to improving community life.
How to Nominate:
Nominating your local hero is easy! You can:
- Download a form from our website or submit online at: https://haydonwick.gov.uk/haydon-wick-heroes/
Remember to include specific examples of how your nominee has made a difference in our community. The more detail you provide, the better chance they have of being recognised for their contributions.
Important Information
- Nominations are open to all residents of Haydon Wick Parish
- Multiple nominations are welcome
- All nominees must have made their contributions within the parish boundaries
- We cannot accept nominations for Council staff or Council services
- Winners will be announced at this year’s Annual Parish Meeting in March with a special ceremony celebrating their achievements
