“The Parish Council awards grants to support community projects.”
The Parish Council has an annual community grants budget of £5,000 which is used to help support local charities and voluntary groups each year with funding, to enable them to carry out projects and activities for the benefit of local residents. The grants are awarded three times a year by the Community Development Committee, where presentations are given by the charities to the committee before any decision is made.
The Community Development Committee met on the Tuesday 6th June 2023 and agreed to award two grants, one for £1,000.00 to Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool, and £336.36 to the Swindon and Cricklade Railway Society.
The grant for the hydrotherapy pool will go towards a replacement roof for the pool.
Neil Montgomery, Pool Manager at the hydrotherapy pool expressed his thanks to the Council for the grant by having this to say:
“All of us at the Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool would like to give a huge thank you to Haydon Wick Parish council for the fantastic donation of £1,000.00 to our need a new roof appeal. It will go a long way towards us achieving our goal. Thank you once again.”
The money received by the Swindon and Cricklade Railway will be spent on replacing signs within Mouldon Hill Country Park. Julie Dent, Facilities Manager said:
“The Swindon and Cricklade Railway would like to thank Haydon Wick Parish Council for awarding us the community grant. This will enable us to have new tourist information signs on display at Mouldon Hill Park. The new clear and visible signage will enhance the park and aid visitors to locate the Taw Valley Halt platform.
It has been pleasure working in partnership with the Parish Council to make a positive difference.”
