We are pleased to share exciting news—the Parish’s brand-new Grounds Maintenance Facility is now fully operational and ready to support the care of our valued green spaces.
After more than three years of planning, consultation, and construction, the facility represents a significant investment in the future of Haydon Wick. The Council received the keys in November, and following several months of preparation, the building is now in full use by the Parks and Open Spaces team.
Official Opening Event
To celebrate this milestone, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Tuesday 28th July at 2:30pm. The event will bring together those who played a key role in delivering the project, along with local Leisure Garden plot holders who have seen the facility develop from its earliest stages.
Residents will also have the opportunity to book a tour after the ceremony, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the team maintains and supports Haydon Wick’s parks and green spaces.
Supporting Our Green Spaces
Located at the heart of the Parish, the purpose-built facility provides a modern and practical base for the Parks and Open Spaces team. By bringing staff, vehicles, and equipment together in one place, the building will help improve efficiency and enable quicker responses to local needs.
The facility includes dedicated storage and workshop areas, along with improved working conditions for staff—helping the team deliver high-quality maintenance across parks, play areas, and open spaces.
A Sustainable Approach
Sustainability has been a key focus throughout the project. Solar panels installed on the roof will help reduce energy costs and carbon emissions, while new trees have been planted to replace those removed during construction.
The building also incorporates repurposed furniture and materials where possible, reflecting the Council’s ongoing commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
A Message from the Chairman
Councillor Vinay Manro, Chairman of Haydon Wick Parish Council, said:
“The new Grounds Maintenance Facility represents an important step forward for Haydon Wick Parish Council and provides a permanent base for the Council’s Parks & Open Spaces Team.
Bringing together staff, vehicles and equipment in one location, the Facility will support the maintenance and improvement of parks, play areas and green spaces across the Parish. It provides a secure home for Council-owned equipment and helps ensure the team has the resources needed to deliver services effectively and respond to local issues.
As Haydon Wick continues to develop for the community, the Facility will support the ongoing care of the open spaces that residents value. From grounds maintenance and play area inspections to future park improvements, it strengthens the Council’s ability to keep community spaces clean, safe and well maintained. This investment is about supporting residents and protecting the community assets we all enjoy, helping ensure high-quality parks and open spaces for years to come.”
Looking Ahead
The opening of the facility marks not only the completion of a major project, but also the beginning of an enhanced service for residents. From everyday maintenance to future improvements, the Parish Council is better equipped than ever to look after the spaces that matter most to the community.
