Haydon Wick Parish Council has received the highest accolade Quality Gold award as part of the Local Council Award Scheme. The Award Scheme offers three levels of accreditation, Foundation, Quality and Gold, with a Quality Gold Award confirming that a council is at the forefront of best practice and achieves excellence in all areas.
This achievement recognises that the council achieves good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement. Moreover, Haydon Wick Parish Council goes above and beyond their legal obligations, leading their communities and continuously seeking opportunities to improve and develop even further.
On reviewing the Council’s submission, the panel praised the Council’s submission and commented on how impressed they were with such good practices in governance, community engagement and council improvement.
This award represents a significant achievement for it is the first Council in Swindon to be accredited at the Quality Gold level.
The Local Council Award Scheme is a peer assessed programme promoting and recognising councils that are at the cutting edge of the sector. It is through the sector working together to share best practice, drive up standards and supporting those who are committed to improving their offer to their communities that individual councils and the sector will reach its full potential.
Councillor Vinay Manro, Chairman of the Council had this to say: “Receiving the news of our achievement was a fantastic way to end 2022. I am incredibly proud of what our Council has achieved. We work consistently hard to develop the community to be the best it can be, and by achieving this Quality Gold Award reflects that commitment”.
To celebrate this award the Council is planning a presentation at its Annual Council Meeting in March 2023. In terms of the future, the Council is now reviewing ways in which it can keep on improving its offer to the local community and welcomes input from local people and partners on this. Currently the Council provides a range of services from a community bus, memory café, youth programme, community cafes, leisure garden/allotment sites, and enhanced grounds maintenance service, and wants to improve its community engagement through these services.
