Council Launches Christmas Card Competition 2021

Council Launches Christmas Card Competition 2021 1900 1200 Caroline Hunt

We are excited to announce that we have a very festive and creative competition that will help keep the little ones busy over the weekends and half-term.

Why not take part in our annual Christmas Card Competition? If you have any little artistic superstars (open to Reception – Yr 6) who would like to win a fantastic prize and have their winning card design included in all of our Christmas parcel donations this year, then simply print off a template and get creative!

The closing date is Wednesday 10 November. Please return your masterpieces to the Parish Council Office Post Box on Thames Avenue (SN25 1QQ)

Materials that work well: To get the best results you can use crayons, felt tips, pastels, poster paints, acrylics, wax crayons or watercolours as well as collages with coloured paper/tissue paper/felt, or hand/foot prints, sponge/potato prints and rubber stamps. We don’t recommend using pencil, and please DO NOT use glitter.

If you don’t have access to a printer here are some instructions to use a plain piece of A4 paper. As our Christmas cards are square in shape, the artwork can be created on plain white A4 paper that has been folded 9cm from the top of the page to create a square that is roughly the same shape as the cards. Write the child’s name, child’s address, child’s school and artwork title in the area above the fold, and create the artwork in the area below the fold.

Council launches ‘Keep Swindon Tidy’ Poster Competition

Council launches ‘Keep Swindon Tidy’ Poster Competition 1900 1200 Caroline Hunt

As part of forming our partnership working with Keep Swindon Tidy and Plastic Free Swindon, and in a bid to help to keep the Parish tidy, the Council has decided to reach out to the local schools within our community and via our social media platforms to run a competition for designing an Anti-Litter poster. This is not just a competition, there is also an element of co-operation, by increasing the awareness of littering and the issues that this can cause within a local community. The posters will be displayed across the Parish to encourage the community to keep the parish tidy and we are not just limited to one!

Posters can include any aspect of litter, the effects litter has on wildlife, encouraging people to take litter home or use the nearest public bins. We look forward to seeing some of your innovative designs.

Please email entries to by the 19th February 2021 for your chance to win a prize. Include the name, age and contact details of the artist.
