Easter activities continue this week with something for everyone.

Easter Bunny Photography Competition

As a fun family activity, can you spot where Bunny visited over the half-term break and replicate Bunny’s trail using your own snapshots? We’re looking for bunny ear snaps (like the one of Sean) from as many of the 10 locations as possible, so see if you can complete the entire set.

The first 20 people to email in with the most locations replicated by Sunday, April 14th, will receive a Children’s Easter goodie bag that can be collected from the Council offices….Happy (Hoppy) Snapping!

Welcome to Haydon Wick Parish Council’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt!

Egg-citing Easter Festivities in Haydon Wick

The Easter Bunny delighted children with two hopping good events on Wednesday, 3rd April. The fun kicked off at King George V Play Park, where 83 eager youngsters formed teams of Bunnies, Chicks, and Lambs for a special challenge – to find and return the most plastic eggs. After a spirited egg hunt, Team Chicks emerged victorious by collecting over 130 plastic eggs.

The festivities then bounded over to the play park on Voyager Road in Oakhurst. Despite wet and windy conditions, 55 children split into their Bunny, Chick, and Lamb teams to scour the area for hidden eggs. The youngsters showcased their manners, exchanging “please” and “thank you” with volunteers as they raced to return the eggs in record time.

It was a fabulous day with lots of community spirit! A huge thank you to the Haydon Wick Club for their kind donation supporting this event, our lovely volunteers, the Fox and Hounds for allowing easy access to set up, and our awesome Easter Bunny who hopped, waved, and starred in many photos.

An egg-citing Easter indeed for the children of Haydon Wick!

The children of Haydon Wick Parish were invited along to meet the Easter Bunny on Saturday 8^th April 2023. There was an air of excitement as families queued outside the gates of King George V Field. On the dot of 9.30 am, the gates were opened, and children flooded in to be greeted by the Easter Bunny, who was enjoying a swing in the sunshine.

The King George V Field event was the first of the egg hunts, and the second was at Voyager Drive play area at 11.30 am.

Over 150 children came along with their parents and carers. They hunted for a small, coloured egg, which had been expertly hidden within the play area and surrounding space, and then exchanged it for a chocolate egg and an Easter sticker. There were also 20 highly sought-after golden eggs, which earned an extra gift for the lucky finders.

And it wasn’t just the children who wanted their photos taken with the Easter bunny, some of the adults in the Parish joined in the fun and took selfies alongside the star of the show.

One family who came along had this to say:

“I just wanted to say thank you for hosting such a lovely event earlier today!
My daughter and her friend attended the 9.30 am egg hunt at King George V Field and had a thoroughly wonderful time searching for eggs and collecting their chocolate ones – the icing on the

Cake was meeting the Easter Bunny himself! So nice to have things like this happening in the local community and it’s much appreciated – well done to all involved!”
