Swindon Borough Council (Waiting and Loading Restrictions and Parking Places Consolidation) Order 2021 (Variation No. 17) Order 2022

 

Notice is GIVEN of Swindon Borough Council’s intention to make the above Order under the provisions of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and The Traffic Management Act 2004, the effect of which is to revoke ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restriction on Pen Close and introduction of ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ on Pen Close, Severn Avenue and Stour Walk and ‘School Keep Clear’ markings which prohibit vehicles from stopping, Mon – Fri 8am to 5pm on Pen Close outside Greenmeadow Primary School.

SECTION 14 – THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

 

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE SEVERN AVENUE, HAYDON WICK

 

This Order is being introduced for Thames Water to carry out main replacement works and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and parking on Severn Avenue between Ray Close and Orwell Close, Severn Avenue between Orwell Close and Coln Crescent, Severn Avenue between Coln Crescent and Calder Close and Severn Avenue between Calder Close and Thames Avenue.

 

Access to Severn Avenue to be maintained.

 

The Order comes into the force on the 21 November 2022 for 6 months but it expected that works will take place between 21 November 2022 to 23 December 2022.

We are aware that small numbers of dead wild birds have been found at various locations in Swindon and that avian flu has been detected in some of the dead birds that were recovered and tested from Shaftesbury Lake. Wild birds are susceptible to a range of diseases and injuries and not all dead birds will have been infected with avian influenza.
Avian flu is a virus that spreads between birds and the UK Health Security Agency has confirmed that the risk of transmission to humans and other mammals, including dogs and cats is very low. Infected birds shed the avian flu virus through their saliva, mucous and droppings.
While the risk to human health is very low, we are advising residents not to touch any dead or visibly sick wild birds and to avoid contact with their feathers and droppings. Residents who have been in close contact with wild birds and their droppings, should wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water. You cannot catch avian flu through eating fully cooked poultry or eggs.
We have been advised that there is no need to limit public access to any areas where wild birds gather and there is no need to limit activities, such as angling or kayaking, at these sites.
We are however asking parish councils to consider displaying the attached warning sign at appropriate sites that the public may have access to.
Duck weed removal can continue but workers should ensure that they wear the correct PPE to undertake this activity.
If you find dead wild birds, do not pick them up, instead you should report them to the Defra helpline on 03459 33 55 77 and follow their advice. Reports to the Defra Helpline of found dead wild birds are triaged and not all birds will be collected.
Dead birds on public land in Swindon can be reported for removal to www.swindon.gov.uk/report-a-dead-animal.

Haydon Wick Parish Council receives regular correspondence regarding unsafe parking and as such we are launching a local campaign alongside Swindon Borough Council and North Swindon Police to raise awareness of safer parking. The Highway Code states that you shouldn’t park your car even partially on the pavement unless roadside signs permit you to do so.

It is extremely frustrating if pedestrians, pushchairs, or wheelchairs cannot pass by a parked car due to parking on a pavement or at a dropped curb. Along with the inconvenience caused on foot, there have been incidents in the past, where emergency vehicles have not been able to gain access to properties.

Please join us in raising awareness around the parish. Feel free to print our poster and display it at your property or business. It will be displayed in notice boards around the parish.

Help keep Haydon Wick Parish a safe place to be.

TEMPORARY FOOTPATH/ CYCLE WAY CLOSURE –

ELSTREE WAY, SWINDON

 

This Order is being introduced to allow telecom works and will prohibit pedestrians/ cyclist from proceeding on the footpath/cycle way on Elstree Way linking Lady Lane to Thamesdown Drive.

Pedestrians/cyclist to be diverted.

The Order will come into force on the 13 June 2022 for 6 months but it is anticipated the closure is only required between the 13 to 17 June 2022.
