Come and be a part of your ‘Community Pocket Woodland’ Tree Planting Event on Tuesday, 5^th March at Grace Walk, Haydon End. The event runs between 9.30am and 4pm. Representatives from your Parish Council, and the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust will be on hand to show you how you can help and to give you information about this project and others in your local community.

The Swindon forest meadows project is a joint project between Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. It aims to create, restore, enhance and better manage grassland sites covering approximately 170 hectares focused on 12 sites.

Five ‘Community Pocket Woodlands’ are being created in 2024, along with a forest garden and tree nursery in partnership with Central Swindon North, South Swindon and Haydon Wick Parish Councils. These are all within urban locations and will connect people with trees and provide nature rich habitats to support urban wildlife.

Haydon Wick Parish Council was delighted to reward its amazing volunteers with a celebratory Cream Tea event at the Parish Council Offices on Saturday 17^th February.

Litter pickers, event helpers, and community bus driver volunteers give up hours of their time for the benefit of the parish and deserved to be spoilt.

On arrival, the special guests were greeted by the Community Development Team and Parish Councillors and were encouraged to sit back and relax.

Table service was provided along with a selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes accompanied with a constant supply of Tea or Coffee.

Tables were adorned with vintage tablecloths, and all was served in a full China tea service. Whilst relaxing, attendees also took the opportunity to discuss ways in which the Parish Council can combat local issues within the community and some excellent dialogue was had.

The Council values the ongoing commitment and enthusiasm of volunteers and never tires of showing appreciation for them.
