Haydon Wick Haven

Haydon Wick Haven 2048 2048 Laura Cutter

It was a lively morning at the Haydon Wick Haven today!

In addition to a limited mobility seated exercise session provided by Lin’s Fitness attendees also enjoyed mentally stimulating activities like puzzles, word searches and a colour themed quiz .
It was also the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends in a safe and welcoming environment. The variety of activities made an engaging and well-rounded event.
The Haven is absolutely free to attend and there is no need to book, just drop in and meet new friends. We look forward to welcoming you to the next Haven on Monday 17th June!

Soft Play and Socialise

Soft Play and Socialise 1512 2016 Liz Matthews
On Friday, 31st May, the Haydon Wick Parish Council Office transformed into a wonderland of soft play paradise! Little ones bounced, tumbled, and made new friends.🤩
🎈 As the children were having fun, parents kicked back, relaxed, and connected with others over refreshments in a calm environment. It was the ultimate win-win situation and the event was a half-term hit with our young families. The attendees really welcomed the quality time with their little ones and the fantastic opportunity to meet others.
The Parish Council Office buzzed with excitement as children giggled and explored the inflatable play structures. It was a day filled with laughter, play, and cherished moments for families throughout the community.🎉

Memory Café – An Unforgettable Reptile Rendezvous

Memory Café – An Unforgettable Reptile Rendezvous 1494 1600 Liz Matthews
🐍 An Unforgettable Reptile Rendezvous at Memory Café! 🦎
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming some scaly guests from the Animal Club!🐲 From a colour-changing ‘karma’ the chameleon to a friendly boa constrictor, the exotic reptiles captivated us all.
As Rebecca from the Animal Club shared her wealth of knowledge (including the surprising fact that she sleeps with the boa in her bedroom!), our brave residents stepped out of their comfort zones to touch and interact with these incredible creatures. 🕷️
It was a truly sensory experience that sparked curiosity in everyone. After the reptile encounter, we concluded with Lin’s seated exercise session, ensuring that our bodies and minds remained active and engaged. These exercises are incredibly beneficial for all, helping to activate different parts of the brain that can sometimes go dormant during the progression of dementia and Alzheimer’s. 💪
At Memory Café, we believe in creating unforgettable moments that stimulate the senses and bring smiles to everyone’s faces. Here’s to more adventures and making lasting memories together! 🌟
Can’t wait for the next one on Wednesday 12th June!

What an absolutely fantastic week of events promoting mental and physical wellbeing!

What an absolutely fantastic week of events promoting mental and physical wellbeing! 2333 1750 Liz Matthews

The fun kicked off on Monday with our lively Limited Mobility Exercise Class (free of charge!) – get ready to groove again at the next class on Monday, June 3rd.

Mid-week brought even more excitement as Wednesday saw the launch of the 6-Week Tai Chi Course. The room was buzzing with an enthusiastic crowd of participants ready to find their inner zen!

But the thrills didn’t stop there! Thursday marked the launch of our brand-new Companions Café for dementia caregivers. The lovely Helen from the Alzheimer’s Society joined us, armed with leaflets galore and tons of fantastic info to share. After much deliberation, we’ve decided this amazing café will now happen on the 4th Thursday of each month- next date being 27th June.

Then Friday really brought the party! Our unforgettable Charity Quiz Night entertained all the quiz-loving guests with riveting rounds and a hilarious host. Plus, the phenomenally successful raffle helped raise a whopping £523.88 for the Councillors’ chosen charities – the Kelly Foundation and BEST (Be a better you!)

The fun-raising kept on going strong into the weekend! Sunday was a sunny spectacular in Haydon Wick as your energetic Councillors hosted an awesome cross-parish charity run. Councillors, families, and parishioners laced up for a cause, hitting the pathways to support our worthwhile charities.

Our current fundraising total for these two events sits at an impressive £637.83 but we’re hoping to boost that number even higher. Quick, click here to donate to these two super-worthy causes!

It’s time to lace up your running shoes and join your Parish Councillors for a heart-warming community event! During Mental Health Awareness Week, we invite you to embark on a scenic run through the picturesque Haydon Wick Parish, where every stride will make a difference.

This event aims to raise awareness and support for two incredible charities: the Kelly Foundation (4Kelly) and BEST – Be a Better You. Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of those facing mental health challenges in our community.

The Kelly Foundation (4Kelly) provides critical support to individuals struggling with mental health issues. With a compassionate team of support workers, psychologists, life coaches, and mentors, they offer personalised one-on-one sessions to guide people toward a healthier life journey. Your contribution will empower them to continue their vital work, bringing hope and healing to those in need.

BEST – Be A Better You is a charity dedicated to uplifting young people facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Through sports training and one-on-one mentoring, they create positive experiences that inspire and equip these individuals to lead successful lives. Your generosity will help BEST continue their transformative work, empowering our youth to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference in supporting these two remarkable charities. Join us in making a positive impact on the lives of those in need within our community. Let’s come together, stride by stride, and show our unwavering support for mental health awareness and the incredible work being done by the Kelly Foundation and BEST.
