Grounds Maintenance Update

Grounds Maintenance Update 2333 1750 Liz Matthews

We’re making excellent progress across multiple sites in our ongoing commitment to maintain and enhance our community spaces. Here’s what our team has been working on this week:

Our dedicated Parks & Open Spaces Team has been focused on accessibility improvements, completing extensive path clearance work throughout Abbey Meads. With this phase now complete, they’ll be moving their operations to Pond Street to ensure our pathways remain clear and safe for all residents. Reactive work has also been particularly busy with several key projects:

  • Implementing crown lifting along one of the main footpaths that flows through the parish (HP1) and throughout Oakhurst to improve visibility and safety
  • Carrying out targeted shrub removal along Thames Avenue to maintain clear sightlines
  • Conducting careful shrub reduction work at multiple locations including Bryony Way, Chives, and Haydonleigh Drive to maintain healthy growth and neat appearances

As well as the above, the compact mini sweeper continues its essential work, addressing high-priority areas while maintaining their regular cleaning schedule, which has been particularly effective in tackling known hotspots to keep our paths and public spaces clean and welcoming. The public litter and dog waste bins are also being emptied, in most cases daily, as well as regular litter picks.

These ongoing improvements demonstrate our commitment to maintaining high-quality open spaces for our community.
