Council & Local Artist Celebrate Seven Fields Nature Reserve

Council & Local Artist Celebrate Seven Fields Nature Reserve 1900 1200 Caroline Hunt

The Council has teamed up with the very talented local community artist, Marilyn Trew, to create a bespoke map of Seven Fields Nature Reserve.

The concept of the map is to spread awareness of why the Local Nature Reserve is so important, to promote the partnership between Seven Fields Nature Reserve and the Parish Council, and to help navigate your way through the fields and educate the community on the types of wildlife and wildflowers that you may find there.

To mark this special occasion, we will be running a colouring competition. The winner will receive a family picnic hamper (kindly donated by Morrisons, Haydon Wick) to enjoy at Seven Fields on a weekend of your choice throughout June. Entries to be received by Friday 4th June 2021. Entries should be sent to competitions@haydonwick.gov.uk – please include your name and contact email/telephone number. There is no age limit for this competition, and it is open to anyone who enjoys visiting Seven Fields Nature Reserve.

The Parish Council is delighted to announce that the Allotment Competition will run again in 2021, with judging taking place in July.

The Council is proud of the three blooming allotment and leisure garden sites within the parish, and will be awarding a first, second and third prize for each of the sites: Rose Walk, Goodearl and Ventnor Close. In keeping with last years judging themes, additional points will be awarded to plots which have beneficial environmental features.

The Great British Spring Clean

The Great British Spring Clean 1900 1200 Caroline Hunt

The Council has signed up to the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean that runs from 28th May – 13th June 2021.

As we already have a wonderful army of volunteer litter pickers, the Council has suggested that we could easily reach a target of 20 participants throughout the week giving just one hour each of their time. Which would mean that we would have contributed 1,200 minutes of litter picking and covered 60 miles (which is an incredible 24 times around our parish!).

Please help us with our mission. Equipment can be provided. Who knows, we may even exceed our pledge!

For more details, or to make your own pledge with friends & family, please visit the Keep Britain Tidy website here.

More details will be added shortly, so keep an eye on our social media and join our Facebook page event for more details.
