Youth Development Co-ordinator

JOB TITLE: Youth Development Co-Ordinator 
PLACE OF WORK: Haydon Wick Parish Council
GRADE / SPINE POINT: SCP Band 13-17 (£22,627 – £24,491), equivalent to (£11.76 – £12.73 per hour)
CONTRACT DURATION: Funding to 31st March 2022.
HOURS OF WORK: Evening and weekend will be required. Maximum of 20 hours per week. To include evenings and weekends.

Haydon Wick Parish Council is looking for a highly organised, creative and enthusiastic Youth Development Co-ordinator to join the team, and help the Parish Council to realise their efforts to improve the lives of the local young residents by creating a Youth Development Programme within the Parish.

The post holder will be responsible for designing and delivering youth development workshops for the Parish Council. The role will include creating, setting up and running various activities, delivering community/environmental projects, delivering outdoor education and sporting activities, and mentoring.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  1. support the Community Development Officer to shape the young person’s strategy across the Parish
  2. deliver a comprehensive Youth Development Programme in a fully inclusive, safe, exceptional, cost effective, relevant and planned programme for young people
  3. take appropriate steps to identify and effectively manage risks to ensure a safe approach to working with young people is in place, especially safeguarding and DBS requirements
  4. take an active lead in delivering participation programmes that develop young people’s skills and confidence to actively influence decisions that affect them
  5. work with our partners to provide programmes for young people that will challenge, develop and enable young people to acquire new skills in supporting their emotional development and recreational needs
  6. develop a Youth Council to represent the Haydon Wick Parish Council, which will feed into the strategic planning of youth development and services within the Parish

This outward-facing role brings with it, responsibilities such as working alongside volunteers; helping to deliver community engagement events and assisting with fundraising for programme delivery.

This role is about young people. You will have good written and verbal communication skills and will be numerate with an eye for detail.  You will thrive as part of a small team and be willing to undertake odd jobs. You will need a minimum of 1 year of youth work experience.

It would be desirable to have five GCSEs A-C or equivalent, or Level 2-3 Certificate or a diploma in youth work practice.  You will be required to pass background checks from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Casual Youth Worker

JOB TITLE: Casual Youth Worker
PLACE OF WORK: Haydon Wick Parish Council
GRADE / SPINE POINT: SCP 9 plus 12.01% holiday entitlement (£12.16 per hour)
CONTRACT DURATION: Zero hours – casual. Dependent on funding
HOURS OF WORK: Evening and weekend will be required

Haydon Wick Parish Council is looking for an energetic and highly motivated Youth Worker to work alongside the Officers and supporting Councillors in their efforts to improve the lives of the local young residents by creating a Youth Development Programme within the Parish.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting and delivering key youth development workshops for the Parish Council. The role will include setting up and running arts-based activities, delivering community/environmental projects, delivering outdoor education and sporting activities, and mentoring.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  1. set up and run arts-based activities, community/environmental projects, outdoor education and sporting activities
  2. develop a relationship with young people based on respect and trust, ensuring they have a safe place to develop their identity and place in society
  3. establish boundaries and support young people in different settings, including outreach work
  4. mentor, coach and support individuals, encouraging greater social inclusion

Please thank all of the people who helped with my Christmas Food Gift. It was lovely, and I can’t think what else you can put in it to make it any better. So, thank you. When my Mum moved into Greenmeadow in the 70s, she had a Christmas Gift Parcel from Haydon Wick Parish Council. It was potatoes, onions and other vegetables to make a meal. She was so thrilled that someone had thought of her. So, thank you again.

Working with the Parish Council has been an absolute pleasure.

Picking the winner for the Children’s Christmas Card Competition was the hardest because they were all brilliant!! After much deliberation I did finally manage to choose one. My favourite project was the bulb planting volunteering event with some of the grounds team, who were an absolute joy to work with. Thank you so much for asking me to join you.
